Writing a program to solve quadratic equations was one of the
assignments for the students at our school, as I recall.

I remember in my high school in Springfield, VA that there was a Nixie
machine similar to this one that also had a card reader but it factored
quadratic polynomials as I recall which I thought was really cool at the
time and still is. 8o>
