I saw that on the local news last night. (I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area
of Texas.) It sounds like the school district is trying to hide behind a
general statement about protecting students and the Irving police department is
blaming the victim. Here’s a more detailed local news story.

If Ahmed had brought a nixie clock to school, would he have been accused of
making a time machine?

I would like to add that when I went to high school in Texas in the early
1970s, I brought an LED clock to electronics class. I wasn’t arrested,
suspended or had the clock confiscated.
