I occasionally buy Elektronika 7 clocks from the ex-USSR. One time I got 
one that was covered inside and out with the nastiest dust imaginable. It 
was gray, crunchy, and had a bitter smell if it got wet. I asked the seller 
where the clock came from. His answer: "A disused industrial premise 
approximately 100 km north of Kiev." Yikes! If that was actually true, it 
doesn't say anything good about screening at US entry ports...
