Hi Paul, "Pulse Current" usually refers to a much higher current which can be gotten away with for a very short duration. This scheme is typically used in multiplexed displays which have any one tube turned on very briefly, before scanning to the next tube and pulsing it.
For your application, you will be using the normal and much lower current value specified in the tube data sheet. I have one of those John Taylor 1364 power supplies. It works perfectly, you will be very pleased with it!
