It could also be a shorted Nixie, I had that recently, just whacking it gently with a pencil fixed that one but I’ve read about people burning off shorts inside Nixies with low voltag high current. Have you tested another Nixie in its position or swapped places on two of them to see if the fault follows the Nixie?
