Nice find on the power supply; very good for nixie work.
Generally, I crank the voltage way up, to around 300V, and adjust the 
current until I get proper glow or the datasheet spec.
Just be careful with the current. That supply *WILL* kill you if you aren't 
careful: 100-200mA of current thru your body is fatal.

I never found a supply online that exactly matched what I needed for 
bench-testing nixies, so I ended up building my own bench supply a few 
years ago (I posted on this forum).
It looks like your supply has the most-important features: Separate volt & 
mA meters, and adjustable current-limit.
Changing the current-adjust to a 10-turn pot would be the only upgrade I 
can think of; I have that on my supply and it's one of the best and 
most-used features.
