You can still get them in Silicon Valley. See page 16: https://anchor-electronics.com/price-list.pdf , and don't forget the plastic equivalents (MJE3055, TIP3055, etc.). Almost every transistor manufacturer sold them. I remember reading that the 2N3055 spec was so loose that they could re-mark their rejects for other part numbers.
