board.  And, as David said, you can multiplex.
        
                 
        
                I was talking about real estate as in keeping them in your 
house instead of throwing them away. 
        
                You can store thousands of them in an electronics room and

                I wouldn't call them small though. They're 16 pin ICs and you 
need one for every tube.
                Perhaps not a big deal for a larger clock but when designing 
something smaller, 6 of these take up quite some board space.
