That is interesting indeed and I am working on a project with the same 
displays though I want to make the electronics a lot smaller and more 
'hidden out the back' so that the display takes up a greater proportion of 
the front view.
I am also using this project as an introduction to multiplexing which I 
have avoided thus far!
