I did not realize there were different types of DT1704 tubes. I have a
single Tung-Sol DT1704 still in its original RadioShack "Archer" packaging
that I bought around 1975. I had already built a single digit Nixie counter
following a supplied schematic using 7490, 7475 and 7441 TTL chips. I
wanted to build a similar device using a 7447 in place of the 7441 since
the decade counter and latch were independent of the display. But those
parts were expensive for a young teen and I was only able to afford to
build the Nixie counter because I made it a school science project and my
parents gave me the additional money I needed after I paid out my newspaper
money. Might be something for me to do when I retire in a few years. I have
a been buying all kinds of small electronic gadgets and parts from
AliExpress for ages with plans to someday make something interesting.
