For those who have magic eye tubes, how many hours of operation have you gotten from them ?
I salvaged a 6E5 from a radio about 50 years ago, and it's dead (filament is OK; assuming phosphor is depleted), and I have a few 6AF6 (twice as cool as a 6E5....guess why....), but I'm fearful of using them too much because the phosphor is reported to burnout after a few hundred hours. I've tested one, and it's fine, and look forward to using it sometime soon.
