I decided years ago that I will purchase newly-manufactured tubes, such as 
the RZ|568m rather than the originals, if/when they are available because 
the manufacturing process today uses better equipment than 50-60 years ago. 
Some examples: Leak-testing equipment, vacuum pumps, water-jet cut 
numerals, induction heating, tighter controls on glass tubing.

The problem for me is that I have a long backlog of projects just from the 
displays I acquired in the past few years, and I'm now on fixed income 
because I retired (no regrets; 27 years at Intel burned me out).
