Has anyone else made or bought a clock using these old petrol pump displays It always amazes me how many different display technologies have gone into the gas (petrol) pump design... Many of which I would think might be a fire hazard - I've seen gas pumps with high voltage nixie PanaPlex displays. And these, despite being electromechanical, use inductive coil pulses that must generate some kind of back emf if a diode fails. But obviously all these work - I don't recall hearing much about them exploding lol. I suspect that gas pumps are a very harsh environment, requiring a very reliable display. Curiously - the one display type I've never seen is the basic led... You'd think that would be a great inexpensive solution... As for the clock design with these - very clever multiplexing solution! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "neonixie-l" group.
