Bless your heart, Steve, for those words. You have a friend in North Carolina! I am extremely excited about the new console. Ive heard of the Neotek Legend for years. I have been console shopping for years as well. This Elan came my way via my guitars, and the owner is a great fellow indeed. A new friend! So, I began researching all things Neotek and now, I can indeed understand the group's enthusiasm for the Neotek family of products. I love the sound of the Neotek-tracked recordings Ive listened to. Ive been searching for a desk that would reflect what I put into it, in a way that I love. I think that I have found it. Another big plus for me is the fact that the desk seems very understandable, no nonsense, and no silly complicated routing, etc, that would slow me down. I was looking at Soundcraft 6000 and Sapphyre. Those have a good rep and are parts-supported. But no real "buzz" about them, and finding tracked recordings using them (particularly Sapphyre) has been difficult. Admittedly, the -90db crosstalk at 10K is a really fine spec. As a total Anglophile rocker, I was initially obsessed with Trident! But the more that I found out from pro's regarding the merits of the Tridents that I could concievably afford...the 25, 65, 75....the more that I knew that these were not anything that would fit my needs. Unsupported as well. Of course, the AMEK Angela drew my attention, as did thier BIG and Einstein....but these are unsupported products, and I have the feeling that of those 3, only the Angela would be of Neotek Elan/Elite (and etc) quality. And then of course there is the Neotek Mailing List community. YOU! This adds immeasurable value. Many thanks to the seller, David, as well as to my new friend Eric-Roscoe-Abel for pointing me to you all. To think that a mere desk could bring such quality friends into my life....incredible! In fact I see that the legendary Ike has sent me mail re: the Elco pinouts already. And the redoubtable Steve Albini has been very generous with answers to my Q's already as well. Here are a few pics of the desk in question:
Does anyone have a manual for this desk? Your very good friend Terry. Terry McInturff President, Terry C. To: [email protected] Date: Monday, March 2, 2009, 10:39 AM Hi Folks, Terry has really done his homework getting a Neotek. I recommended this list to him - he's a good guy and makes a superb guitar as well. I would really appreciate your helping him out.
