ike, matt hi,
the hum is 50hz(actually 49.7hz).
i pressed all solo's on the ch. it still kept quite.
Audio works on the whole console(mix, busses, direct out, aux)
i didn't check if hum is present on aux section , will do first thing at morning. talked with mike and he says there is no other way but recapping the console inc. master section and then checking if the problem still appears.
of course that will be the way but its another 4000$ ex labor...
what do you think?

Hi
You still haven't said if it is 50Hz or 100. (60 or 120). That would tell us if it is a faulty power supply or something to do with the wiring. The solo bus has a lot less 'gain' than the others unless you operate all the solos at once.

hi ike,
i have checked if the hum was caused due to external induction... not. i moved the console 50m away, got the same problem. i also checked and it seems that the hum is present on mix bus and on the group out busses but is not present on the solo bus?? so this means there is current running on the chassis. i wrote a help request to mike s. and i hope i'll solve it asap.
i have a wooden cover i tried covering with metal, still no effect.

if anybody has a creative idea, please.
thanx all for help and effort.

Hi Barak,
Is the bottom cover wood or metal? If it's wood, it will make no difference, if metal, it may help to mount it.
best,
Ike

no induction problems experienced, psu 3m far from console, consoles bottom cover is not mounted.
moving the psu don't make any difference.
yes both psu are connected with diodes.
thanx

What is your studio like for noise in general? Do you have problems with single coil pick-up guitars (like a Strat...) picking up noise in the room? Are you in some part of the building near heavy power lines or transformers?

Hi
If it is 50 Hz then it is probably induction from external wiring. PSU related 'hums' are usually double (100) or triple the mains frequency.

ike hi,
Back to the elite 40 channels 1986 humming issue.
i recapped and refurbished both psu,i changed connectors to NL8 and i measured 17v on motherboard, so thats fine. the two psu are connected parallel for the whole console(not like some modes made ,one psu for each side of the master section).
The mixer is quite when all channels muted.
The hum (about 50hz) appears when channels are ON (faders down) and is present on all channels.

reading this:

If / when you re-do the PS connection at the board end, it's a good idea to put in some de-coupling caps on the supply voltages where they come into the console. About 4700-5600uf at 35-50 volts is good for the +/-18v rails (two caps total), 1,000uf / 50v for the -25v rail, 100uf / 100v for the +48v rail. The 36 volt rail is kind of optional but use at least a 50v cap, preferably 63v if you put something across it.
Best,
ike

Hi Barak,
Two power supplies makes it WAY more complicated than that. You might want to check with Mike at Sytek and see if he will trade your power supplies for an upgraded one that will run the whole console. Otherwise, we have some talking to do... I will send the NL-8 pin-out when I get a chance to look for it.
best,
Ike

i still didn't try option one (caps mode on the board side)... thought you can advice...
Thanx
