greetings! this is my first post to the list, and i'm looking for some advice/info on a large series IIIc (9' approx) teardown and move. we are currently looking seriously at a desk in our area, but need to know how "far down" it can be disassembled in order for storage/relocation. at the moment, the new room i'm having built is no where near ready for this, but i'd like to get moving on this project as it will require service before we start serious use anyway. So the question is, once every module is removed, and the wood sides are separated from the aluminum rails that run the length of the desk, what's the largest contiguous component of the frame? is the backplane one long 9' piece? i could deal with 9' lengths of aluminum frame, but a 9' x 40-something" board full of fragile and failing molex connectors is another story when i'm trying to get this (temporarily) into a basement!!! the meter bridge is one unit as well.. .correct? whats the best approach here? could it be to not try and take it down this far and leave the empty frame in tact and just get a storage space for it in the meantime? (i hope not). any and all advice and or tips welcome
