I did see some of that when I visited this console, and that which I saw I cleaned. Looked like ancient soda to me. Don't waste too much time cleaning around anything if your plan is to replace molexes. I'd follow the suggestions listed in this thread for method, and also do the heavy cleaning after you've removed the old molexes and before you install the new, if that was in the plan.
