Title: Follow up to "Scan finds no host alive, ever--hence empty report"

OK... so here's what I've done.  First, I removed ping_host.nasl from the plugins directory.  Obviously, this solved my problem.  Then, thinking that I would have to either mess with ping_host.nasl or mess with some other portions of nessus or some functions in nessus that I don't yet know/understand, I just started clicking around.  (I should note that I put ping_host.nasl back into the plugins directory at this point).

I was in the preferences section/dialog/tab of the GUI and noticed that nothing was selected for the section "Ping the Remote Host."  I figured that this shouldn't matter since I haven't selected that option in the "Scan Options" dialog (the only option selected is NMAP)... but I went into preferences and opted for an ICMP ping.

My understanding is that any option I set in preferences regarding that ICMP ping shouldn't matter if "Ping The Remote Host" isn't selected in the Scan Options->Port Scanner section.  However, even though Ping The Remote Host wasn't selected in that particular dialog.

However, when I start the scan, suddenly, things work and the scan runs like it should.

Once again, the OS is FreeBSD 4.4 on nessus 1.1.11 and 1.1.12.  Any ideas what I should do to fix this?

Thanks,

Aaron
