Running v1.2.5 on a RH 7.1 (v2.4.2-2) Pent 1ghz 512meg When scanning a Win2k Server on the local wire, nessus tends to hang at random "security checks" including: Brute force login (Hydra) Guest belongs to a group Users in the 'Backup Operator'...
the 'ps ax' indicates four "/usr/local/sbin/nessusd -D" entries, and top indicates... nessusd 99.8% CPU (Pri 18, NI 10, 7.5% MEM) It "seems like" the hanging is related to selecting the Brute force options for telnet and SMB against a Win2k box. From about six runs, four hung when SMB was enabled and two ran to completion when SMB was not selected. Could be purely coincidental though. I have not seen it hanging when scanning a Linux or non-Win2k box as yet. Anyone have any thoughts? Known issue? Also, somewhere leading up to v1.2.5 the "Stop" button on the scan window now acts like "Stop the whole test", not just stop the current test. - [EMAIL PROTECTED]: general discussions about Nessus. * To unsubscribe, send a mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe nessus" in the body.
