Hy,

to enable specific plugins, you can create a .nessusrc file for each os.
For example, on nessus server you create a user call unix and another win2000.
After you start nessus wtih each user and enable specific plugins.
You obtain a nessusrc file with the plugins you want to test.
Finally, you can to a php web frontend to start your specific scan.

I hope this will help you.
Excuse for my bad english, please.

Objet : New idea: Reducing Nessus scan time

hi !,

I think by enabling only os specific plugins, We
can limit number of plugins to test thereby reducing
scanning time. How can we do this:-

          1) Using Nmap(3.00 version, -O option) we
will come to know target machine's operating system
and version.

          2) We can enable only those plugins specific
to target machine's operating system.

( If we integrate this idea to Nessus Server
(Default configuration) it will be easy )

Instead of checking for more then 800
vulnerabilities for every machine ,we can reduce to
few hundreds ,Comments, suggestions greatly
appreciated!
