Yes, and the command to grab the plugins from nessus.org is
nessus-update-plugins -v.  You can also do a nessus-update-plugins -l to
list the available plugins, assuming you have compilied libnasl,
libraries, core, and plugins separately (without the script, as
mentioned by Leonard).

Did you download the packages individually or 
run the installer.sh?  What version of linux are you running?

If downloaded the source and installed that way, you need to 
download and install the plug-ins also.
They should be installed to /usr/local/lib/nessus/plugins
