Exactly. Perhaps the script should say something like,

"Nov 26, 2002: Dear diary, Microsoft Corp. has not bothered to provide any
information regarding this vulnerability (or even a patch) yet. Oh yes,
CVE/CAN is not available either. Does anybody care? No...what surprise."

Well, I am half-kidding, half-serious: timestamps on external references
(including "null refs") might be a good idea.
