Hi,
This is possibly a newbie question, but I looked in the
FAQ and mailing list archives and didn't find anything
relevant.
I'm using Nessus 1.2.6 on a FreeBSD machine and scanned
a block of 62 IP addresses yesterday. The scan ran for about
5 hours. Vulnerability tests were applied to several of hosts
and for hosts where the scans didn't seem to be progressing,
I stopped them individually after about 60 to 90 minutes.
After I stopped the last remaining host scan that wasn't
going anywhere (after several other host scans had
successfully completed), I was surprised to find the
following report:
- Number of hosts which were alive during the test : 0
- Number of security holes found : 0
- Number of security warnings found : 0
- Number of security notes found : 0
I know that several of the hosts were alive because
I could ping them. I had all the plugins enabled and
had set both TCP ping and ICMP ping.
Looked at the log files and found several of the following errors:
/usr/local/lib/nessus/plugins/teardrop.nasl: sendto :No buffer space
available
bpf_open_live():connect : Connection refused
bpf_next():recv : Broken pipe
I've had successful results from scanning 1 or 2
machines at a time. Any idea why no hosts
for found when I scanned a larger list of hosts?
Thanks,
Ken Pon
