Thanks to everyone who sent me data - if I did not reply personally,
please forgive me.

I "optimized" over ~ 600 plugins this week-end, and I think the initial
results will be good. It turned out that several plugins were attempting
to establish a connection on the remote ports even if they were closed
(and therefore would timeout against a firewalled host), several
web-related plugins would not react too well against a server which
attempts to force a Keep-Alive connection, and a lot of smaller issues
have been fixed.

I also corrected several issues in the scan engine - I'll release Nessus
1.2.7 shortly so that everyone can upgrade. I also set the default value
of checks_read_timeout to 5 instead of 15. Given how recv() is now
implemented, I do not think this will cause any problem, but I'm always
interested in everyone's feedback.

After your next nessus-update-plugins, scans should start to be faster.

I'm still interested in everyone benchs, however try to add the
output of "grep script_version /usr/local/lib/nessus/plugins/*.nasl"
with your times, so that I can know which revision of the plugins are
producing the times.

Thanks again,
