You'd be surprised how much legacy equipment lies around Typical example: one of our vendors supports a package we use that is no longer being developed; it runs on Novell only. Other vendors offer newer, more expensive alternatives, ones that won't work with the home-written in-house systems developed over the past 30 years (some 23,000+ application programs). We don't have the staff to change all of those to work with a new vendor's API. So we use the old system, which the staff are already trained to use. Which means we need Novell, whose FlexIP can be taken off-line by a simple NMAP scan (safe_checks button is a NOOP). Kris
