Plugins are classified into one of several categories, described in doc/WARNING.En, under the nessus-core source tree. At least with Nessus 1.2.7, these categories are: ACT_ATTACK, ACT_DENIAL, ACT_DESTRUCTIVE_ATTACK, ACT_INFOS, ACT_MIXED, ACT_SCANNER, ACT_SETTINGS, and ACT_UNKNOWN. In the Nessus client configuration file, those plugins classed as ACT_SCANNER, which refer to some type of port scanner or ping, would be listed in the SCANNER_SET block; the others would be in PLUGIN_SET. > has anyone written a script to perhaps update .nessusrc plugins > selection w/o using the GUI? Yes, I have. See <http://www.tifaware.com/perl/update-nessusrc/>. It's free and should work on any unix-like system with Perl 5 and Nessus 1.1.14 or better. George -- [EMAIL PROTECTED]
