Josh,

See a message on the Samba mailing list for more info:

or read 2 threads at:
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=samba&w=2&r=1&s=null+session+nessus&q=b

You may need to upgrade to Samba 3.x in order to fix this...

Subject: Null Session in Linux

Hello all,

I'm kinda new to the Nessus crowd so please forgive if answered before.

I am getting the following 2 positives which I'm not sure about.

. It was possible to log into the remote host using a NULL session. The
concept of a NULL session is to provide a null username and a null
password, which grants the user the 'guest' access

The following shares can be accessed using a NULL session :

- IPC$ - (readable?, writeable?)

Why is my Linux box returning windows issuses? I am running Samba but I

didn't think it would cause this. Is it maybe because I am
authentication
off of an Active directory server and the RA setting is not correct
there? The AD box is not under my administration so it could very well
be
wrong.
