Sorry for the newbie questions: Are there are charts suggesting how many host in parrellel should be scanned based on bandwidth available. A group of us started a new company were we would like to implement the nessus solution. Obviously we can figure it out through tial and error, but why recreate the wheel if someone is willing to provide information. I just thought it would be good to have something to start with. If none are provided, perhaps we can publish are findings after our own trials.
Another question is if I choose to have nmap to scan, wouldn't that scan for tcp,upd and nmap scan (x3) each ipaddress/port? What is the most efficient scan method with time taken into consideration (and safe checks)? I am not worried about IDS alerts just concerned about customer down time.
