Also, the nessus in Fink is old I think. I just grabbed the latest and built it on MacOSX 10.2 and it worked fine. Maybe you should try that. It has some important bpf sharing code in it that should make nessus run better on the Mac.

This message indicates something is already using the port Nessus wants to use, 1241 by default these days. Does netstat or lsof show another daemon running on that port?
