/usr/local/var/nessus/logs/nessusd.dump says the folowing when i try to
scan a remote host named foobar:

Yes, it can't ping the remote host. The reason for that could be a shortage of bpf's (see nessusd.dump about that), due to a sniffer or something else running and using them.
I quit mozilla and safari and then i could scan  remote machines.
