Hi,

1) nusses-update-plugings doesnt work under freebsd. I've downloaded
plugings archive from site, unpacked them and placed in to
/usr/local/lib/nessus/plugins. Is it right way?

That works fine, just be careful of the .nes plugins which are generated at compile time.

2) There are only 1983 plugins... covering 1299 unique CVE ids and 1453
unique Bugtraq IDs. I'm wondering is there any another plugings
supplier? I don't think those cover enough amount of known
vulnerabilties. Maybe i can find another plugin collection?

Well, nearly 2000 plugins isn't such a bad effort. It's quite comparable to products like ISS and Retina.

I don't know of any other public source of Nessus plugins although I expect most security companies will have at least a few private plugins.

P.S. Is there any security scanner, except Nessus (respect) and Nikto
under *nix platform?

Another free one is SARA http://www-arc.com/sara/ I haven't used it much.

Regards,

Paul
