Hi,
Nessus is working great except for the fact that a 'safe' scan seems to hang/crash NFS on a few servers.
I want to exclude the NFS port (2049 tcp & udp) from the scan I am running. The easiest way to do this seems to be modify the services.txt file (I don't really want to try and write this list out as a comma separated series of network ranges). However, I am not sure whether directly editing this file will work.
The reason I am not sure is that there are two binary files called services.tcp and services.udp, which I obviously can not edit. Are these two files automatically generated by Nessus? If so, when?
I tried editing the services.txt file, then renaming the other two files. When I ran another scan, they did not seem to be re-created.
I guess I could just run another scan against the servers running NFS to see whether the changes have been taken or not, but I would prefer not too as they are production machines.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Regards,
Antony
