I believe make install uses install-sh only if configure can't find the
install binary.

Are you *sure* you ran make install for all the components, especially
nessus-core? As before, this error suggests the log directory hasn't
been created yet, although it should have been when installing
nessus-core. 

Are you able to start nessusd at a commandline?
