I am trying to get the Nessus daemon to run on Cygwin. The server compiled on Cygwin running on Windows XP, and various plugins can be executed successfully in groups of up to 20 plugins. I am using the NessusWX windows clients to run plugin sessions.
I have come across a couple of problems with the server though.
1. The server sometimes hangs after running 20 or 30 plugins. Sometimes it may run about 100 plugins and hang. It seems to hang arbitrarily i.e., it does not hang after running a specific plugin, or after some number of plugins. I even tried leaving the client-server on for more than an hour. 2. Nessusd gets a SIGSEGV signal and terminates. This seems to occur after it writes a socketpair error in the dump file.

I tried running plugins sequentially i.e., setting max_checks to 1 in nessusd.conf, though I get the same problems.
If anyone has come across these problems on Cygwin, I would appreciate any feedback/pointers to resolving them. Also, if someone has run Nessus on Cygwin successfully, it would be get feedback on that.
