I submitted a bug to redhat concerning this problem, who knows if they
are going to give the lame excuse of it not being their problem, even
though the problem seems to be very redhat centric.
I also have found that if I do a 'make install' for Net::Nessus (v0.08)
and try to run the nessusc perl script in the Net::Nessus 0.08 build
directory, I get the following error:
-------------------
Cannot connect to the Nessus server running at localhost, port 1241:
Error while requesting NTP proto 1.1: at
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.0/Net/Nessus/Client.pm line 151.
-----------------------
I did install Net::NTP 1.2 from CPAN, and I have an ntp server (RHEL
v3's ntp RPM (ntp 4.1.2)) installed. I double checked the command
options and also that both the ntp server and the nessus servers are
running. I also wrote a quick test script to check the functionality of
both my local NTP server and the Net::NTP module. Everything is working.
