Can you tell me what files are under $localstatedir/nessus/users/$login?
[Note that you'll need to figure out what $localstatedir is - probably
"/usr/lib" or "/usr/local/lib" - as well as $login.]

This probably isn't a real issue since you can see nessusd with ps. Do
you at least see something with ":1241" in the "Local Address" column?
What is it? As long as it's something other than 127.0.0.1, you should
be fine.

Do you have a firewall blocking the connection? This might be something
like iptables.

Can you connect using the unix-based nessus client from the same system
as the nessusd server?
