How are you counting these? Simply the number of plugins in the plugins dir? > When I connect from my W2K machine via NessusWX 1.4.4 client, I only > see about 2222 plugins downloaded. Why? While nessusd will try to load every plugin in its plugins dir, it won't necessarily make them available. For example, some (all?) of the C-based plugins check for the presence of an executable such as nikto when loaded; only if it's found will you be able to use that plugin. In addition, there are now a *large* number of plugins for local checks of Red Hat, Fedora, SuSE, etc; these depend on a feature on Nessus version 2.1+ and will exit if loaded on an older version, such as 2.0.12. > What determines what plugins are downloaded? I don't understand... you mean what determines which plugins are available to nessus clients? Or how do you update plugins on the server? If the latter, look into nessus-update-plugins.
