I gave up trying to install NessusWeb on my YellowDog Linux box, since there's not enough pre-compiled binaries for PPC linux and I don't have the time to install entire Java and C development systems and hack it together myself.
So. I'm trying with a RedHat 9 box. I'm following the directions in the documentation as in Chen's webpage at http://www.cse.sc.edu/~chen7/ with allowances for some differences in version numbers... (Oh, and I don't have Nessus running on the system running NessusWeb, but I was going to work on that after getting the framework done). I have Tomcat running in memory and the mod_jk2 module installed, everything starts up... But I can't access the NessusWeb interface. I'm not sure which port it should be on, as Chen says "Http://host/NessusWeb" but that just gives me a 404. Port 8080 isn't listening anymore... Port 8005 and 8009 are listening, but 8005 refuses connections and 8009 generates these errors: Oct 26, 2004 4:14:34 PM org.apache.tomcat.util.threads.ThreadPool$ControlRunnable run SEVERE: Caught exception (java.lang.NullPointerException) executing [EMAIL PROTECTED], terminating thread Oct 26, 2004 4:14:51 PM org.apache.jk.common.MsgAjp processHeader SEVERE: BAD packet signature 26469 I'm not sure if I need to make changes to the httpd.conf file, the Tomcat config files, or if there's some sort of incompatability between the various component versions. Anyone have experience doing this with a RH9 system? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jeff Mercer - ITS Security & BTINet Systems Administration "This electronic message transmission contains information from the office of Jeff Mercer, ITC^DeltaCom, Inc., which may be confidential or privileged.
