Nessus does have the provision for supporting NMAP wrappers.. NMAP with
its port scanning ability should be able to trigger a scan attacks

Subject: can nesssus be used to simulate syn attacks

I am new to nessus and i require information on the capabilities of
nessus. i am doing a project for my final year in college and it
involves the use and training of a neural network. In order to train the
neural network i need to generate malicous packets that can be processed
by the neural net. However i would like to train the network to
recognise a specific type of attack such as a syn attack for example. Is
it possible using nessus to generate this specific type of traffic.

I would appreciate any input about my enquiry.
