I have a really strange issue that just came up today since I updated plugins.  It seems like ping_host.nasl is hanging, and not allowing the scan to run.

I’m using a Solaris 10 scanning host, running Nessus v2.2.3.

The host being scanned is Solaris 9.

I ran a snoop on the host being scanned, and this is all I see:

192.168.253.1 -> (broadcast)  ARP C Who is 192.168.253.4, elmftp1 ?

     elmftp1 -> 192.168.253.1 ARP R 192.168.253.4, elmftp1 is 0:3:ba:86:a2:e3

192.168.253.1 -> elmftp1      NBT C port=12098

     elmftp1 -> 192.168.253.1 NBT R port=12098

192.168.253.1 -> elmftp1      TCP D=60000 S=63000 Syn Seq=2057139123 Len=0 Win=512

On the Nessus server, this is all I see:

[Mon Jun  6 09:54:48 2005][774] user root starts a new scan. Target(s) : 192.168.253.4, with max_hosts = 1 and max_checks = 10

[Mon Jun  6 09:54:48 2005][774] user root : testing 192.168.253.4 (192.168.253.4) [806]

[Mon Jun  6 09:54:48 2005][806] user root : launching ssh_settings.nasl against 192.168.253.4 [807]

[Mon Jun  6 09:54:48 2005][806] ssh_settings.nasl (process 807) finished its job in 0.055 seconds

[Mon Jun  6 09:54:48 2005][806] user root : launching ping_host.nasl against 192.168.253.4 [808]

After that, my scan hangs until I kill it.  I’ve tried both NessusWX and the Unix client.

Thanks in advance for your help,
