I was wondering what the status of the "MacOS X Version" plugin was

Based on the source I see at
http://nessus.org/plugins/index.php?view=viewsrc&id=12521,
This plugin has been updated (thanks) but now only spots OSes which
are either not supported any more (10.1, 10.2) or which require a
certain version for the updates to work (10.3 requires 10.3.9 at the
very mininum). This plugin will be modified when 10.5 ships to warn
the user about 10.4.x.
plugin for it. I find a bunch of ones that do specific checks for
<10.4.3
etc. Those however appear to rely on "ssh_get_info.nasl" which I
think means
I need access to the machines I'm scanning.
No. Plugins checking for the newest security updates do require SSH
access, but plugins like #20113 which check for a minimum version of
OS X (in that case 10.4.3 or newer) do not require SSH and use
Bonjour/mDNS/RendezVous instead.
