hi hugo,
forgive me for being new to linux.
i received no errors during the installation of the OS at which time i
selected everthing.
this was the second installation, the first time i did not install the
developement packages.
are we talking about the same developement packages?

As you have studied the mailinglist archives you must have found pointers
to installing the proper packages many times.
So how did you make out with installing all of the development packages?
