What is the difference between "update-nessusrc" and "nessus -pP"?

update-nessusrc is a script that can be used to configure a nessus config file.
The nessus -p parameter obtains a list of plugins installed on the server. The -P paramter gets the list of server and plugin preferences. Note the
update-nessusrc script runs nessus -qp to obtain the current list of installed
plugins.

All I want is to be able to write a script that will:

1) download new plugins via nessus-update-plugins
2) update the nessusrc with the new plugins
3) launch nessus with all safe checks enabled, pings turned off, syn scans
enabled, amap enabled, etc.

You can do all of the above with nessus-update-plugins, update-nessusrc, and the
nessus client. Take a look at the relevant documention for examples and
details.
