Hi,
I am running Nessus 2.2.6 under Gentoo and have recently come across
a problem that I can't get to the bottom of.
Nessus appears to be skipping the host discovery and port scanning
phase of it's normal operation.
If I give it the range 192.168.0.1/24 then it will try in turn to
scan each of the IPs, even those that are not there, I have tried
both TCP and ICMP pinging selections.
The ones that are up go straight to the second phase, i.e. the first
progress bar is not used and the scan goes straight off onto the
second progress bar.
This second part finishes normally and seems to give correct results,
but dead hosts are still scanned.
The scanning box can be seen to continuously ARP for the non-live IPs.
I would be grateful if anyone can shed any light as to why this may
be happening, I have not, to the best of my knowledge, changed
anything since it was working A-OK.
Thanks
Matt
