Has this directory been disabled? I used to be able to drop plugins into this directory and they would show up, allowing individual users to have a set of plugins of their own, or eliminating the need to drop them into the main plugin directory. Please note, I'm not trying to upload them with an old client, just place them into the directory. Sidenote: this is a really handy functionality. I wish it had not been removed, as mentioned by Mr. Theall in an email to the list last month.

Currently, I am unable to make them appear in the plugin list on either the windows client or the os x client. We recently upgraded to 3.0, and it appears the changed happened in there. I have double checked for unique IDs, copyrights, and other things of the sort. The plugin does load and work correctly if it is loaded into the main plugin directory, so I know it's a valid plugin.

Has anyone else had a problem with this? Is this a known bug? Known removed functionality?

The best book on programming for the layman is "Alice in Wonderland"; but that's because it's the best book on anything for the layman.
