All my scanners run from cronjobs and they are firewalled to only allow SSH to them so I can't see the cert from the GUI. The reason I'm thinking the cert expired is that 5 out of my 8 scanners were all built at the same time and they are the ones that failed.

Communication closed by server
nessus: nessusd abruptly shut the communication down - the test may be incomplete
[2680] SSL_connect: error:00000000:lib(0):func(0):reason(0)
nessus : SSL error

What does the nessusd.messages log show when this happens? Are either nessusd.messages or nessusd.dump approaching 2GB in size? Have you recently altered nessusd's configuration to disable SSL or tweaked any tcp_wrapper settings to prevent your nessus client from connecting?
