This is because the directory is owned by root with no group/other
read/write/execute permissions. This is a good thing if the system has other
users or services running that should not be able to access the data.

Solution:

1) Change the permissions and accept that the information is more accessible
2) Elevate privileges via su or sudo to access the information

This seems like a problem related to your Linux distribution or your
particular setup rather than Nessus. Do you have anyone you can talk to
about general Linux / unix issues?
