I recently configured Nessus 2.2.7 to run on a 64 bit Intel system (been
running 2.2.7 on other platforms for a while). While the installation seemed
okay, nessusd runs without errors, and scanning of localhost seems okay at
times, I am having issues with nessus hanging on synscan.nes, ping_host.nasl,
and/or labrea.nasl when scanning other systems. The important thing to note is
that some of those options have been disabled (e.g. labrea.nasl) in the
nessusrc file, yet they are launched sometimes anyway and then hang.

So, the question is, how can I troubleshoot this problem appropriately? I've
also setup Inprotect to manage some of the scanning schedules, etc. and have
had similar results (i.e. hang).

Just for information - the system is a non-GUI system and all scans are
launched from command line or from Inprotect.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. I read another thread where someone was
having odd issues on a 64 bit platform, but I did not see any solution or
evidence that it was proven to be related to the architecture.

Thanks.

Chris
