There is a plugin architecture, a knowledge base and dependencies. If
you want Nessus to do things it does not do today, you have the
choice : write your own set of plugin. You can even contribute them
with the rest of the community.
Nessus is a flexible tool, and flexible means more than checkboxes in
the prefs section provided you're willing to dedicate some time to it.
