Hi, I snooped through the list archives and web site. Can't seem to see an update on the pofiles quesitons? Are profiles implemented? Will they be?
You mean like a config that would allow you to scan for any vuln related to, say, IIS? No, there's nothing for that exactly. You may be able to use one of the update-nessusrc scripts (search the mailing lists if necessary) to achieve something like it, but probably only at a fairly course level.
What I would like to do is save plugin combinations with which to scan hosts. The goal of this is to reduce the length of the reports and make it a little more presentable to non-techs.
Are you aware of "Silent Dependencies"? It's a relatively new feature in the unix clients that suppresses reports from plugins that you didn't explicitly enable. So if you only explicitly enable, say, plugin #23647, you'll only see a report about MS06-071 if a host is affected.
